Samarovskiy Chugas
In the second half of the 16th century, the lands adjacent to the mouth of the Irtysh were part of the Belogorsk Principality. The area was inhabited by the indigenous northern peoples, the Khanty and Mansi, who were semi-settled hunters and fishermen. The head of the Belogorsk Principality at that time was the Khanty Prince Samar. On his order at the foot of the "Chugas" town was founded at the pod. The high bank of the river later became known as the Samara Mountains. Currently, in the vicinity of the Samarovsky Mountain (Samarovsky Hills), is the capital of Ugra - the city of Khanty-Mansiysk.
